Love and Loss

Even if we knew this day was coming, we still could not imagine the experience of grief.  Like being in love, it is difficult to explain how it truly feels to someone who has not gone through the experience themselves.  It is a powerful human experience we all have to endure however, and together we can comfort each other.  We as women can stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us.

What Now?

For many of us, our spouse was our support in so many ways.  Newfound widowhood can be a lonely and unfamiliar place to you.  If you feel this way, finding a group of women who are experiencing the same journey can make all the difference in finding your way.  You are not alone, reach out to others who are waiting and wanting to be there for you.

Top Tips

1.  Don't make any important decisions in the months ahead if possible.  Emotions and thinking change during this time of extreme duress.  How you feel today may not be how you will feel six months from now.  Give yourself time to make important decisions.
2.  Remember your grieving process is your grieving process.  There is no one way to grieve and there are no timelines that must be met.  Listen to your own needs.
3.  Give others the gift of giving.  Allow others to show their love for you, don't try to do everything yourself.
